if you want a birth year dated 1971 - 2012. Most years can be custom cut for you and look the same as those pictured, however the coins are cupro-nickel (CLAD), not silver.
During the 1960's these coins were the last half dollars containing silver and issued for general circulation.  Since 1971 all half dollars issued for circulation were were made of a a copper-nickel metal only.  Other special U.S. Mint issues in some years do contain silver, including the 1970-s proof coin minted by U.S. Mint in San Francisco.
The 1964-dated coin is 90% silver; if you order 1965- to 1970-dated coins those coins have 40% overall silver content. The money clip contains no silver.
Note: See the tiny "S" or "D" under the bust of President Kennedy.  The "S" refers to that coin being minted in San Francisco; the "D" refers to the Denver Mint.  If no mark shows, that coin was likely minted in "Philadelphia," as is known as "plain" or the mint mark was cut away.  Not all coins
are available in all mint marks.
We choose to include these small details on our cut coins when we cut out the obverse side.  Notice we also cut "inside" the "R" in "Trust," and inside the "O," and "D" in the word GOD.
